Red & Black Week: Satin Skirt for Work

Click photos for larger view.

I went a little bit brighter with the red today, with this just-below-knee-length satin skirt. And I was lucky to have a scarf that matched almost perfectly!

I’ve been known for wearing satin to work that’s a bit too fancy, so today I toned it down with a simple, jersey knit tunic-length top that ties in the back. The top has a deep v-neck, which I made appropriately modest using a lace band made just for such purposes. Have you seen these things? It seems they are becoming fairly popular, as I see them in mall stores, Target, even Jo-Ann (yes, the fabric store). They usually come in white, black, and flesh-tone and really are a brilliant solution for concealing cleavage at the office! ;) They would be super-easy to make at home, too.

The silver, garnet and marcasite pendant is from Target, and of course the beaded necklace it hangs from was made by me. The beads look red and black, but they are actually dark red and brighter red.

Looking forward to seeing what everyone else comes up with for Red & Black Week today!  And remember, you don't have to post every day in order to participate.  So if you missed the last two days and want to join in later in the week, go for it!  :)

Want to participate in Red & Black Week? Here's how:

  1. Add the Red & Black Week icon to your blog post (copy the code below and paste into your post using the Edit HTML feature):

So far, this is probably my favorite outfit that you posted. A good thing you found that scarf ..

I do love your red & black outfits! :)

Sorry, I'm really late for Red & Black Week. :(
I caught the flu and spend almost a week in bed. Since I didn't feel like posting about fashion today I thought I might share a black & red... bag... *lol* And tell you about my childhood crush (you'll see why he's perfect for being mentioned in a red & black post^^).
I'm angry with myself because I didn't see the typo when adding my link and name. :(

Oooh, red satin - does it get any better than that?! Red is the ultimate "power" color.
You look gorgeous!

P.S. You've been tagged in one of my posts. :)

I love that skirt and I have to agree that I like this outfit best so far :) I just love how your skirt seems to shimmer. It has such a decadent, luxurious look to it. I just love satin in general :)

I love satin. Also I loved that you wore roses yesterday, even though I didn't get a chance to comment until now.

Thanks for hosting this event! It's been really fun so far.

Another elegant combo! Today, I barely got the red in. But I did it ;-)

I am impressed with how different each of your black and red outfits have been from each other. This one is fantastic too.

Oh, the skirt is so pretty-satin can be so hard to wear, but you pull it off perfectly! I love the touch with the scarf, too-I always want to wear scarves, but I'm really bad at figuring out how to make them look right, so I always adore it when someone does them so well.

Amazing skirt! When I see this, I'm having a hard time sticking to my promise (of not buying clothes for a whole year), haha.
You look very pretty!
